Pankaj Chakraborty
Lead Piping Engineer, Kolkata Execution Centre
1. Why did you decide to join Foster Wheeler?
I wanted to join an organisation that offered me, in my hometown, the opportunity to do equal or better quality work than what I had been doing previously.
2. What projects have you been working on?
I have been working as the piping lead on a major onshore gas processing facilities project which is located in Saudi Arabia. It has been a good experience in being involved in the development of the team.
3. What appreciable differences have you found between Foster Wheeler India and other organisations that you have worked for?
Our Kolkata office is a smaller one than the places I have worked in earlier and here I feel that the size makes everyone more close knit. In very large organisations one tends to feel very lost at times. Also in large organisations, the time taken for recognition of one’s good work is longer, while here, one gets recognised quickly for a job well done.
4. What are you looking forward to in your career in Foster Wheeler?
I am looking forward to working on larger projects, especially EPC jobs, which are Foster Wheeler’s real core business.
5. How do you see your career development in Foster Wheeler?
After working as a lead on one large project, when I get to know Foster Wheeler, I’d like to move on to project engineering. I believe that our company offers the opportunity to make a lateral change.
