Padma Bangaru
Chief Engineer – Process, Chennai Execution Centre
1. Why did you decide to join Foster Wheeler?
I was earlier working for Foster Wheeler’s UK-headquartered operation, and was involved in projects that excited me as a process engineer. I was always interested in FEED projects and Foster Wheeler had many such projects. When I heard about its Indian Operations I decided I’d like to be part of Foster Wheeler India as I was sure I would continue to work on FEED projects. Foster Wheeler India provides the opportunity to work on advanced licensor technologies which any process engineer will aspire to.
2. What projects have you been involved with?
Although I’ve been part of many challenging projects, I would like to definitely mention a world-scale refinery project in India. This was a very significant FEED for a major new refinery and involved many process people from different locations. I also led a large team of process engineers that further improved my skills as a team leader.
3. What does Foster Wheeler offer you in your career that the earlier organisations you worked with did not?
It has robust systems and procedures in place that helps me to be highly system-driven. Foster Wheeler has a vast number of highly experienced and knowledgeable process engineers who guide and mentor people like me.
4. How important is teamwork to the role you do?
To achieve any successful milestone in a project is always a team effort and it is extremely important to work as a single team. I’ve led teams of large sizes and I believe that teams have to be very well networked for successful project execution.
